Virtual global biorepository: access for all to speed-up result-oriented research

Abstract: Biorepositories have been established and used for the collection, storage, and distribution of biological materials for research and improving health. The terms ''biobank'' and ''biorepository'' are often used interchangeably, and they have been employed for more than a century to maintain and reallocate the biospecimens. The biorepository begins with the aim of data collection and the expected future use of human biological materials/specimens. Biorepository on cancer, diabetes, infectious disease, neurologi… Show more

“…In addition, it allows integrations with other software to facilitate access to additional information and speed up all the tasks performed [27]. Currently, nSIBAI is working in more than 20 nodes of the SSPA Biobank, operating as a virtual biobank [28,29]. nSIBAI is organized in different modules that are connected between them.…”

“…Researchers across the globe can seamlessly locate specific COVID-19 specimens they need for research using virtual biobanks. 9 Biobanks participating in the virtual COVID-19 biobanking network should be capable of processing, storing, and providing high-quality COVID-19 specimens to researchers across the globe. This is crucial for the success of the virtual biobanks.…”
