Virtual 3d City Modeling: Techniques and Applications

Abstract: Abstract. 3D city model is a digital representation of the Earth's surface and it's related objects such as Building, Tree, Vegetation, and some manmade feature belonging to urban area. There are various terms used for 3D city models such as "Cybertown", "Cybercity", "Virtual City", or "Digital City". 3D city models are basically a computerized or digital model of a city contains the graphic representation of buildings and other objects in 2.5 or 3D. Generally three main Geomatics approach are using for Virtua… Show more

“…Generating 3D models is of great interest in research communities such as photogrammetry, computer vision or geo-information sciences [44][45][46]. Research focuses on the reconstruction of such models and its automation [46][47][48]. Moreover, recently, various benchmark data sets for visual localization and with varying conditions have been published [6,49].…”

“…Detection of buildings on satellite images can be used in the following areas: the design of communications; modeling emergency situations (floods, fires); modeling transport flows; modeling the microclimate processes; planning the evacuation schemes of the population and anti-terrorist operations; the synthesis of a visual situation for simulators, geographic information systems, systems of virtual tourism [1][2][3]. Many approaches have been proposed to solve this problem.…”
