VIL1, a Polycomb-associated protein, modulates high ambient temperature response via H3K27me3 and H2A.Z inArabidopsis thaliana

Abstract: Adapting to the everchanging environment is key to a successful life for an organism. Eukaryotes reprogram their transcriptome in order to adapt to an unfavorable environment. To achieve this reprogramming, plants and animals employ multiple responses including epigenetic regulation. In the search for mutations compromised in high ambient temperature response, we found that VIL1, a PHD finger protein displays aberrant development at high temperature. RNA-seq analysis shows that vil1 fails to downregulate heat … Show more

“…Thermomorphogenetic responses, such as thermosensory hypocotyl elongation, involve massive transcriptomic reprogramming, as demonstrated in the model dicotyledonous plant Arabidopsis ( Arabidopsis thaliana ; Liu and Charng, 2013 ; Sidaway-Lee et al, 2014 ; Cortijo et al, 2017 ; Ding et al, 2018 ; Han et al, 2019 ; Bordiya et al, 2020 ; Jin et al, 2020 ; Lee et al, 2020 , 2021b , 2021c ). A major effect of this transcriptomic reprogramming is to activate genes involved in auxin synthesis, such as YUCCA8 ( YUC8 ), and auxin signaling, such as INDOLE-3-ACETIC ACID INDUCIBLE 19 and 29 ( IAA19 and IAA29 ; Franklin et al, 2011 ; Sun et al, 2012 ; Ma et al, 2016 ; Zhu et al, 2016 ).…”
