The article is devoted to revealing some of the key concepts pertaining to International Relations Theories (IRT) suggested by the leading Vietnamese scholars at present. While claiming no comprehensiveness with regard to the coverage, the paper unveils some of the circumstances that served as a background for the evolution of International Relations (IR) as a discipline in Vietnam with a specific focus on the indigenous school(s) of thought. In particular, a Vietnamese conceptualisation of the middle power theory is of interest, being relevant not only in terms of advancing the methodological constructs but also for formulating – even if indirectly – Vietnam’s foreign policy in practice. On the whole, noteworthy is the creative adaptation of Ho Chi Minh’s thoughts to the contemporary intricacies of international politics. Findings show that while some Vietnamese groundwork in IR theories is typical of non-Western scholarship on the whole, it manifests a certain degree of uniqueness in that it relies on a combination of Marxist-Leninist doctrines and Ho Chi Minh’s postulates with both characteristically Asian notions (e.g. “bamboo diplomacy”) and theoretical developments originating in the Global West (such as the concept of a “middle power”).

We develop and test a moderated mediation model to explain how management accounting systems impact supply chain integration and firm performance, and how perceived environmental uncertainty influences these relationships. Partial least squares structural equation modeling was used to analyze the survey data from 158 supply chain firms in Vietnam. Results indicate that the use of management accounting systems increases the extent of supply chain integration, which in turn enhances firm performance. Furthermore, perceived environmental uncertainty moderates the positive associations between the use of management accounting systems, supply chain integration, and firm performance. This study makes several contributions to existing literature. First, it elucidates the role of supply chain integration in promoting partner integration in the Vietnamese context. Second, it reveals the performance implications of the interaction between management accounting systems and supply chain integration. Our findings have important implications for supply chain management because they emphasize the need to develop effective management accounting systems and supply chain integration strategies in the context of environmental uncertainty.

The world is witnessing the rise of China as a global power and its increasing influence, which have led to a reconfiguration of the international order and have challenged the long-standing US hegemony. The intensifying competition between these two global powers raises concerns about tense security conflicts affecting the stability of the international system. The dynamics between the United States and China have reached a critical juncture, and questions about the nature and implications of the possible future power shift between the two states have become increasingly pertinent. Engaging in discussing the classic topic in international relations - - power transitions, this paper explores which side should adopt a more conservative approach between the US and China to ensure a peaceful power transition. Drawing from historical precedents and the current global landscape, the analysis delves into the potential benefits and challenges of various strategies pursued by both nations. By evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of each sides approaches, this study aims to shed light on the pathways that can lead to a harmonious transition of power between the United States and China, emphasizing the importance of constructive dialogue, cooperation, and mutual understanding. Ultimately, this paper offers insights contributing to the ongoing discussion on managing the U.S.-China power shift to maintain global peace and stability.
