Video PARIC (PArsing and Retrieval based on Image Contents)-an approach for video information retrieval system

Abstract

In multimedia services, digital video is one of the most important contents. However until now the searching and browsing of video have depended on the traditional technologies developed mainly for text, which is obviously insufficient considering the special characteristics of digital video. In this paper, a new video retrieval system that is under development at ETRI is introduced. In designing the system, two major user groups (information providers and end users) are considered. For information providers, the system provides with the tools that support efficient construction of video database. For end users, an easy and convenient searching and browsing functionality is provided.
