Video assisted thoracoscopic excision of pulmonary hydatid cyst: A case report

Abstract: Pulmonary hydatid cyst disease or echinococcosis is a parasitic disease caused by larvae of the tapeworm Echinococcus. Four species are recognised and the vast majority of infestations in humans are caused by E. granulosus. The classic management of pulmonary hydatid disease is surgical removal of the cysts by means of thoracotomy or sternotomy.
