Victimological Features of Xenophobia Among Students

Abstract

The article discusses the behavioural manifestations of xenophobia among students relevant to the period of globalization. The concept of "xenophobia" is analysed, as well as its relationship with manifestations of discrimination and victim behaviour. Based on an empirical study, the purpose of which is to identify differences between students depending on their interaction in a multicultural space, significant features of aggressive victimization behaviour are highlighted. A gender analysis of the data was carried out, which indicates that the level of aggressive type of victim behaviour of students is not determined by their gender.The level of aggressive victimization behavior among ukrainian students towards foreign students has been determined. It is assumed that the level of aggressive type of victim behavior has gender patterns. The social, political and economic roots of xenophobia are investigated. As a result of the study, it has been proved that the type of victim behavior among students does not depend on their place of residence and gender. The hypothesis that student youth who have everyday contacts with foreign students has no prerequisites for xenophobia and discrimination has been confirmed.
