ViComp: composition of user-generated videos

Abstract: We propose ViComp, an automatic audio-visual camera selection framework for composing uninterrupted recordings from multiple user-generated videos (UGVs) of the same event. We design an automatic audio-based cut-point selection method to segment the UGV. ViComp combines segments of UGVs using a rank-based camera selection strategy by considering audio-visual quality and camera selection history. We analyze the audio to maintain audio continuity. To filter video segments which contain visual degradations, we pe… Show more

“…The system proposed in [6] edits the footage from multiple social cameras, and the quality assessment highly depends on the 3D reconstruction of scenes. Moreover, the audio information is also used by [4,3] to perform camera selection. In the video montage system [13] which composes the mashups by retrieving the specific footage, the semantics of the video content is extracted to match the query information, such as the script texts [14], voices [15], etc.…”

“…Various view selection algorithms have also been introduced to achieve different goals. The greedy selection [4,3] is a popular strategy, but the solutions usually are not globally optimal. The DP-based methods [2,10] can obtain the optimal solutions numerically, but the selections at the current time are made without considering the future information, and the final result is retrieved in a backward manner.…”

“…Some software simplified the editing step. For example, (Shrestha et al 2010;Bano and Cavallaro 2015) automatically combined the most desirable segments from different recordings resulting in a single video stream. (Casares et al 2002) used metadata to make digital video editing more accessible to novices.…”
