Abstract:This work makes use of the fundamental concepts of spectroscopy in a didactic approach of the electronic-vibrational spectrum of gaseous iodine in the visible region, in order to obtain its molecular parameters such as bond strength and frequency of oscillation, from a simple mathematical treatment involving the FranckCondon principle, the Birge-Sponer extrapolation, the concept of oscillator anharmonicity and the convergence of the vibrational levels at the rupture limit of the bond. Due to iodine is a nonpol… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
