Vibrational spectra of (BaF2)n (n=1-6) clusters

Abstract: The vibrational properties of alkaline-earth metal fluoride clusters (BaF 2) n (n=1-6) are investigated in the framework of density functional theory. The calculated Raman and Infrared (IR) spectra reveals shift in Raman and IR peak position towards lower frequency region with the increase in the cluster size. Further the calculated spectra have been compared with the experimental vibrational spectra of bulk BaF 2 crystal. Even though the smaller size cluster lacks translational symmetry, the structural and vi… Show more

“…[ 16–21 ] Among ternary PCs, the photonic bandgap (PBG) in a ternary metal/dielectric PC was theoretically investigated at the normal incidence. [ 22 ] Kumar et al. [ 23 ] have suggested multichannel filter application of a magnetized‐cold‐plasma based 1D ternary PC and analyzed its band tunability depending on the various parameters.…”

“…In 2003, Holloway proposed a structure using dielectric particles embedded into a dielectric background material to produce negative permittivity and permeability, based on Mie resonance. Since then, several all‐dielectric structures, which can behave as left‐handed or negative index metamaterials, have been proposed. These dielectric metamaterials (DMM) require a high permittivity cube or particle as the resonating unit cell, leading to limited flexibility and increased fabrication complexity, particularly in the high‐frequency operating band.…”
