“…The tumour does not show * Animals were maintained under the guidelines prescribed by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, State University Utrecht, The Netherlands ** Grant recipient of the Koningin Wilhelmina Fonds (Netherlands Cancer Foundation) Offprint requests to: W. R. Klein metastatic potency, but is notoriously refractory to local treatment. The question raised by Cotchin [7,8] as to whether sarcoids are real neoplasms is still difficult to answer. Sarcoids demonstrate some characteristics, such as local aggressive growth and proneness to recurrence, which are shared by locally malignant tumours and by tumour-like lesions such as fibromatosis and keloids.…”

“…The highest incidence (not age-adjusted) was found at 4-5 yrs (Ramadan et al, 1988), compared with the natural life span of about 13 yrs for goats. It is also of interest that all the published cases of goat melanoma (Ajello, 1970;Amenta, 1931;Bastienello, 1983;Brandly and Magaki, 1963;Cotchin, 1984;Damondaran and Parthasarathy, 1972;Jackson, 1936;Malik et al, 1974;Mustafa et al, 1966;Sastry, 1959;Sockett et al, 1984;Thomas, 1929;Venkatesan et al, 1929;Zubaidy, 1976) have arisen in countries with a high level of solar UV (Africa, the Middle East, India, and the United States of America).…”

“…Teratoma seems to occur more frequently on the left side [1, 4, 5, 7, 9-11, 16, 20, 21, 24, 25], while such predilection has not been reported in women, though [9]. In an examination of 63 cases of canine ovarian tumors by Cotchin including adenoma, adenocarcinoma, granulosacell tumor, and seminoma, it was revealed that the tumors, except for seminoma, occurred more frequently on the left ovary than the right [6]. It has been suggested that generally ovarian tumors have predilection for the left ovary, but the reason remains unknown.…”
