Challenges relating to social connection and identity (Clary & Byrne, 2023), mental health (Ghosh et al, 2020), service-connected physical injuries (Albanesi et al, 2022), bureaucratic issues on campus and with the VA (Fortney et al, 2017;Hunter-Johnson et al, 2020), and difficulties adapting to ambiguous learning environments (Chan, 2018;Young & Phillips, 2019) all contribute to withdrawal from courses (Borsari et al, 2017). Morris et al (2023) investigated the likelihood of withdrawal from courses from a large national sample (n = 17,354) of student veterans at community colleges and found that students who reported high satisfaction with financial aid advising reported a lower likelihood of withdrawal.…”
