Vesiculobullous autoimmune diseases with oral mucosa manifestations: retrospective and follow-up study

Abstract: Objective: To conduct a retrospective study on a series of cases of PV and BMMP with manifestations in the oral cavity in order to ascertain prevalence, sociodemographic characteristics, diagnostic maneuvers, treatment and follow-up. “…The PV diagnosis was conducted under clinical examinations and histopathological analysis. Additionally, in all but two included studies 15,23 further examinations through either DIF, IFF, or ELISA were conducted. The main indexes to assess activity of disease were the Pemphigus Disease Area Index (PDAI), and the Autoimmune Bullous Skin Disorder Intensity Score (ABSIS) to measure and capture changes in PV severity, which are important tools that provide quantitative and qualitative data on the severity of disease and response to treatment.…”
