Vesicoureteric Reflux following Endoscopic Extraction of Lower Ureteric Calculi

Abstract: Twenty-three patients subjected to endoscopic ureteric meatotomy or Dormia extraction were examined for vesicoureteric reflux. Reflux into the lower third of the ureter was found in 2 asymptomatic patients. The risks of reflux from endoscopic stone removal seem to be minimal.

The procedure is advocated particularly for stones that are not amenable to removal by basket extraction.…”

“…
Vesicoureteric reflux following surgical or endoscopic procedures on the lower ureter is an uncommon complication and the reported incidence is variable (Roper and Smith, 1965;Moore, 1979). We report a case of vesicoureteric reflux due to persistent vesicoureteric fistula following transvesical ureterolithotomy.
Case ReportA 39-year-old lady was admitted with recurrent left loin pain which increased after micturition.
