“…In 1829, Menke catalogued the collection of Freiherr Friedrich von der Malsburg ( 1 744-1823), a chief tax collector who lived in Eschenberg, Hesse, but who had spent many years in the U.S.A. The catalogue lists nearly 200 lots representing (according to Menke, 1829) 94 species of Conus. In contrast to his treatment in the Synopsis Methodica Molluscorurn (see above), Menke (1829) did not indicate infrageneric groups in Conus.…”
