For the understory of a rain forest in Costa Rica, light intensities were reported to range from 10 to 1000 µmol m −2 s −1 , and more than in 50 % of the total amount of light resulted from sun flecks (Chazdon and Fetcher, 1984). “…Para la región amazónica existen diversos estudios que han permitido un avance en el conocimiento de briófitos de la región. Entre ellos se pueden mencionar los de Ruiz-A y Aguirre Ceballos (2004) en Tarapacá-Amazonas, donde evaluaron la diversidad y riqueza de la distribución vertical en árboles; Benavides et al (2004;2006), en regiones del Caquetá, Chiribiquete y Araracuara, realizaron estudios entorno a la diversidad de briófitos del sotobosque en bosques inundables y de tierra firme; Campos et al (2014;2019) efectuaron estudios en cuatro departamentos de la amazonia colombiana muestreando árboles vivos y hallaron diferencias en cuanto a la estructura y composición de las comunidades de briófitos en relación al gradiente vertical.
