Abstract:Xenopus embryos were heat-shocked at several stages of development and vertebral abnormalities were examined by means of in situ staining. A high incidence of vertebral abnormalities was evident in larvae treated at the neurula stages (stages 15 and 20) and at the tailbud stages (stages 32 and 35).
