Vermicompost of tannery sludge and sewage as conditioners soil with grown tomato#

Abstract: The objective was to evaluate the effect of tannery sludge vermicompost in the chemical properties of soil cultivated with tomato and irrigated with wastewater. The experimental design was completely randomized in a factorial 6 × 2, totaling twelve treatments with three replications. The treatments were: four tannery sludge vermicompost (25% Sludge tannery(LC) + manure -T1, 25% Sludge tannery(LC) + rice husk -T2; 50% Sludge tannery(LC) + manure -T3 and 50% Sludge tannery(LC) + cane gray -T4), conventional fert… Show more

“…Reduction of C:N ratio and humification index was reported during the vermicomposting of sludges by E. fetida (Boruah et al, 2019). More studies on the vermicomposting potential of E. fetida for different sludges and other organic substances have been reported (Garg and Kaushik, 2005;Singh et al, 2010;Hait and Tare, 2012;Bhat et al, 2013;Hanc and Chadimova, 2014;Bhat et al, 2016;Busato et al, 2016;Cunha et al, 2016;Huang et al, 2016;Malińska et al, 2016;Mupambwa et al, 2016;Xie et al, 2016;Ravindran and Mnkeni, 2017).…”

“…Some other toxic wastes, such as tannery sludge and water hyacinth used to remove heavy metals, are toxic to earthworm survival due to their heavy metal concentrations; therefore, pretreatment with bulking agents is required (Cunha et al, 2016;Das, Bhattacharyya, Ghosh, & Banik, 2016;Nath & Singh, 2016). The heavy metals are collected in the earthworm tissues, chiefly in chloragocytes and intestinal microbes, which also remove most of the pesticides from the soil (Bhat, Singh, & Vig, 2016).…”

“…O correto aproveitamento de resíduos pode ser uma alternativa para a redução dos custos na compra de substratos comerciais e fontes de adubos orgânicos (ANTUNES et al, 2012;CUNHA et al, 2015), desde que estejam estabilizados. Visando a bioestabilização desses materiais orgânicos, a vermicompostagem é umas das técnicas utilizadas.…”
