Verification of Nonconflict of Supervisors Using Abstractions

Abstract: This paper presents an efficient test that uses abstractions to detect conflict in composed systems controlled by local supervisors. This test, called nonconflict test, is not applied over the languages generated by the supervisors, but over abstractions of the supervisors with some specific characteristics. The concept of observer and the definition of the set of relevant events are the basis for the approach. Two strategies to define the set of relevant events are presented, along with illustrative examples.… Show more

“…Duas metodologias para obtenção do conjunto de eventos relevantes para o conflito, ou seja o conjunto de eventos que não podem ser apagados pela operação de proje-ção, foram determinadas em (Pena et al, 2006a) e (Pena et al, 2009). Seguindo a nomenclatura utilizada nestes trabalhos, este subconjunto de eventosé chamado de conjunto de eventos relevantes ou Σ r .…”

“…Various abstraction rules preserving conflict equivalence have been proposed and used for compositional nonblocking verification. First, observer projection [10] and weak observation equivalence [11] have been used to simplify automata. The journal paper [8] introduces conflict equivalence to compositional nonblocking verification and proposes a set of conflict-preserving abstraction rules.…”

“…When simplifying the automata it is important to ensure this does not change the nonblocking property of the system. Various abstraction rules preserving conflict equivalence have been proposed and implemented [10,19,22,23]. These include rules such as Observational Equivalence, Tau-Loop Removal and Certain Conflicts.…”
