Verification of HVDC controller using an advanced hybrid real time simulator

Abstract

4BSTR-lCT -This paper presents the use of an RTDS simulator for the verification of HVDC control and protection. For high accurate firing and high frequency requirement, a new approach for an Advanced Hybrid HVDC Red-Time Simulator using classical physical models for the converter section in combination with a complex fully digital AC and DC power system simulator implemented on RTDS is developed. The reilliz:ition rind performance verification of its interface are described in this paper. This hybrid simulator type h a been chosen for Chinese Tian-Gumg HVDC project tests. Based on the testing of HVDC control and protection, the detailed hybrid simulator setup is formulated. Compared with EMTDC research, the control and protection performance is verified and the results are also given.
