Abstract: Summary.Complete cardiopulmonary autotransplantation performed in 13 dogs leads to following results.1. The total interruption of pulmonary innervation results in severe disturbance of respiration (with extreme decrease of the respiratory rate and prolongation of the inspiratory period). The remaining respiratory regulatory mechanisms are not sufficient to guarantee an adequate ventilation.2.
