Venereal Diseases, Prostitution and Lock Hospitals in 19th Century Awadh (Oudh)

Abstract: This study focusses on lock hospitals, venereal diseases, soldiers and prostitutes in Awadh. The colonial administration implemented a policy to protect soldiers from sexually transmitted diseases.
