<span>The field of automated vehicle technology is developing rapidly developing. While it is likely to be many years before self-driving cars are commercially viable and used in a wide range of conditions by the general public, technological advances are speeding along the automated technology continuum towards this destination. Automated vehicle technologies troth with significant social benefits such as reduced injuries and deaths, increased road efficiency, mobility. Automated vehicles can improve traffic safety, balance traffic flows, maximize road usage by offering driver warnings and/or assuming vehicle control in dangerous situations, as well as provide motorists with the best end-to-end transportation experience and reduce emissions, which are the most important goals of modern smart traffic control infrastructures. Exchanging data and integration of such systems with Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) may be a keystone to successful readying of vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs) and will simply be the following step of this evolution, with dynamic period of time data exchange between all the players of the traffic dominant system and fostering cooperative urban quality. One of the applications of this concept is to provide vehicles and roads with the ability to make road time more enjoyable and also to make roads safer. These applications are typical examples of what an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) is called, whose objective is to improve security by using new information and communication technologies (NTIC). In this paper, we will focus on the study of the main component in ITS systems and present a review of the major V2V benefits related to driver safety by focusing primarily on the recent developments of these systems.</span>

We develop traffic management and data networking mechanisms and study their integrated design for an autonomous transportation system. The traffic management model involves a multi-lane multi-segment highway. Ramp managers regulate admission of vehicles into the highway and their routing to designated lanes. Vehicles moving across each lane are organized into platoons. A Platoon Leader (PL) is elected in each platoon and is used to manage its members and their communications with the infrastructure and with vehicles in other platoons. We develop new methods that are employed to determine the structural formations of platoons and their mobility processes in each lane, aiming to maximize the realized flow rate under vehicular end-to-end delay constraints. We set a limit on the vehicular on-ramp queueing delay and on the (per unit distance) transit time incurred along the highway. We make use of the platoon formations to develop new Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) wireless networking cross-layer schemes that are used to disseminate messages among vehicles traveling within a specified neighborhood. For this purpose, we develop algorithms that configure a hierarchical networking architecture for the autonomous system. Certain platoon leaders are dynamically assigned to act as Backbone Nodes (BNs). The latter are interconnected by communications links to form a Backbone Network (Bnet). Each BN serves as an access point for its Access Network (Anet), which consists of its mobile clients. We study the delay-throughput performance behavior of the network system and determine the optimal setting of its parameters, assuming both TDMA and IEEE 802.11p oriented wireless channel sharing (MAC) schemes. Integrating these traffic management and data networking mechanisms, we demonstrate the performance tradeoffs available to the system designer and manager when aiming to assure an autonomous transportation system operation that achieves targeted vehicular flow rates and transit delays while also setting the data communications network system to meet targeted message throughput and delay objectives.

A amostragem estatística para determinar a hipótese de grau de confiança deve seguir os processos e métodos metodológicos precisos e corretos, caso ocorram erros de aplicação, além de controlados, podem aumentar os erros na verificação dos resultados. A proposta da pesquisa foi avaliar a amostragem coletada no km 193 da BR-393 no município da Paraíba do Sul, cerca de 154 km da capital do Rio de Janeiro. O objetivo era verificar, se a amostragem de 4 grupos de veículos distintos entre 29 categorias de veículos possuía um nível suficiente para o teste, se a pesquisa de origem e destino - O/D tinha uma estatística significativa nos graus de confiança da pesquisa. O resultado apresenta três cenários, de modo a simular o melhor método. A amostragem estratificada foi a mais indicada, pois permite o agrupamento de dados homogêneos em dados populacionais heterogêneos. Os dados da pesquisa mostram problemas de subestimação no número de pessoas entrevistadas e no tempo de execução, tanto no método aplicado, quanto na simulação do software Arena.
