Varied absorption peaks of dual-band metamaterial absorber analysis by using reflection theory

Abstract: Cross-resonator metamaterial absorbers (MMA) have been widely investigated from microwave to optical frequencies. However, only part of the factors influencing the absorption properties were analyzed in previous works at the same time. In order to completely understand how the spacer thickness, dielectric parameter and incidence angle affect the absorption properties of the dual-band MMA, two sets of simulation were performed. It was found that with increasing incident angles, the lowfrequency absorption peak … Show more

“…Due to R 2 t C L , so the term of R 2 t C can be neglected in equation (6). Furthermore, the inductance C can be approxi mated by the formula of a parallel capacitor as C ∝ ε r lw/t, and the inductance L as L ∝ µ r tl/w [16,34,35], so the absorp tion frequency from equation ( 6) can be given by:…”

“…Recently, extensive research has been carried out on the design and fabrication of cloaks from microwave to optical frequency due to their potential applications in stealth technology [1][2][3][4][5]. Metamaterial absorbers (MAs), as a kind of cloaking device, have provoked extensive interest, and a variety of metamat erial structures have been designed [6][7][8][9]. With these kinds of novel absorbers, theoretical unity absorptivity can be achieved by matching the impedance of MA to the free space [10,11].…”

“…Theoretical approaches and algorithms such as impedance matching theory 9 , reflection theory 10 , antenna reciprocity theory 11 , and optimization algorithms 12 , 13 , were introduced to analyze broadband absorbers. However, all these theories cannot guide the design of wideband absorbers.…”

“…Several resonator structures such as elliptic resonators, electric resonators, magnetic resonators, etc., are demonstrated to achieve negative values of permittivity ( ɛ ) and permeability (μ). Recently, using two or more different metamaterial unit cells, dual‐band and multi‐band metamaterials with negative permittivity and permeability have been reported in the literature. The elliptic resonator structure along with a three‐cross sectioned circular ground plane are introduced in this letter, provides two resonance frequencies in the X‐band frequency regime.…”
