Abstract:This work develops a rigorous variational upper bound for the difference between thermal fields generated in uniform media and thermal fields generated in heterogeneous media, for the same external loading. The bound can be calculated in a simple manner, with knowledge only of the heterogeneous material properties and a relatively easy-to-compute thermal field associated with a uniform medium. In order to evaluate the bound, the difficult-to-compute thermal field, associated with the heterogeneous material, do… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
