Variation in White spruce needle respiration at the species range limits: A potential impediment to Northern expansion

Abstract: White spruce (Picea glauca) spans a massive range, yet the variability in respiratory physiology and related implications for tree carbon balance at the extremes of this distribution remain as enigmas.
