This paper presents the general principles of building a sailing yacht designed for people with multiple disabilities. Specific requirements for the crew on such vessels have been stressed. A lot of attention has been given to the possible disabilities of the design subjects and accessibility of the new yacht. The universal design method has been adopted to enable meeting ergonomic and rehabilitation requirements. We discuss selected stages of the design process: problem analysis, yacht construction and equipment. We discuss the influence of the type of disability on yacht use, in detail. Two tasks have been combined, that of a sailor with disabilities and that of a yacht. Both of them need to be taken into account in the socio-technical ‘sailor with disabilities - yacht’ system. A set of required yacht adaptations has been developed to meet the relationships in this system. Typical dangers in sailing on the Empatia 60 FD yacht are further enumerated. We provide a set of design rules for constructing dedicated yachts for the disabled and their practical use.

The growing requirements for limiting the negative impact of all modes of transport on the natural environment mean that clean technologies are becoming more and more important. The global trend of e-mobility also applies to sea and inland water transport. This article presents the results of experimental tests carried out on a life-size, parallel diesel-electric hybrid propulsion system. The efficiency of the propulsion system was analysed for two modes of operation (electric and diesel) and for different engine speeds and loads. Analysis of the impact of using a hybrid propulsion system on fuel consumption was carried out on a case study vessel and for six actual journeys. The use of hybrid propulsion in "zero emission" mode enables up to four times higher energy efficiency when compared to a conventional drive, while reducing CO 2 emissions and air pollution to zero, as well as a hundred-fold reduction in noise emissions. High flexibility in the operation of such a drive enables the use of intelligent power control technology (smart propulsion). This article shows that the use of hybrid propulsion reduces the negative impact on the environment to a minimum and allows for a significant reduction in the vessel's operating costs.

Klasyczna metoda projektowania okrętów jest metodą iteracyjną, bazującą na doświadczeniu zgromadzonym podczas eksploatacji istniejących statków. Natomiast w przypadku całkowicie nowego typu statku, bez "posagu wcześniejszych doświadczeń", projektowanie polega na opracowaniu szeregu równoległych, wariantowych rozwiązań z wykorzystaniem optymalizacji. Artykuł wskazuje na wybrane metody projektowe wykorzystujące optymalizację, stosowane we wstępnym projektowaniu statków. Systematyzuje i objaśnia stosowane techniki optymalizujące na tle rozwoju teorii projektowania okrętów. SŁOWA KLUCZOWE: projektowanie statków, optymalizacja Typical ship designing is an iterative method based on the accumulated experience of already built ships. In the case of a completely new type of ship, without the "dowry of previous experience", the design consists in developing a series of parallel variant solutions using the optimization. The paper identifies selected designing methods applying the optimizations used in the preliminary ship design. The optimization methods used in the ship design are discussed. Proces jego projektowania stanowi trudne, wieloetapowe zadanie, które z reguły rozwiązuje się iteracyjnie. Często jest to działanie jednorazowe i prototyp jest najlepszym (optymalnym) w danym momencie produktem końcowym. Można wyróżnić wiele etapów tego działania w zależności od stopnia identyfikacji projektowanego obiektu, zakresu i działu wykorzystywanej wiedzy oraz typu rozpatrywanego problemu. Etap początkowy, na którym wyznacza się główne parametry statku oraz kształt kadłuba, określa się mianem projektu wstępnego [1][2][3][4]. Dyscyplina naukowa z zakresu okrętownictwa, zajmująca się metodologią rozwiązywania tego typu zadań, to teoria projektowania okrętów [1] wskazuje, że określa ona -na podstawie założeń projektowych -główne techniczne i ekonomiczne cechy statku przez optymalizację (czyli przez ocenę jakościową). W przypadku nadpodaży w produkcji statków oraz rosnących cen ich budowy i eksploatacji aspekt ekonomiczny w skali całego projektu przekłada się na sposoby okreś-lania poszczególnych parametrów, cech i właściwości statku. Poszukuje się rozwiązań optymalnych. W projektowaniu inżynierskim typowym przykładem takiego działania jest wyznaczanie najkorzystniejszych wartości głów-nych cech konstrukcyjnych projektowanego obiektu, gdy dana jest jego koncepcja [6]. W projektowaniu statków oznacza to zastosowanie optymalizacji na etapie wstęp-nym, w obszarze wyznaczania parametrów rozwiązań technicznych statku [1]. W zależności od przyjętej liczby kryteriów wyróżnia się optymalizację jedno-lub wielokryterialną. Natomiast zastosowanie metod optymalizacji uwzględniających rów-noczesne przetwarzanie informacji decyzyjnych z wielu dziedzin techniki, biorących udział w procesie projektowym, określa się mianem optymalizacji multidyscyplinarnej lub wielopoziomowej.
