Variables relacionadas con la tentativa suicida en una provincia de España durante tres años (2009-2011)

Abstract: Variables related to suicide attempt in a Spanish province over a three-year period (2009-2011) Abstract (p < 0.01; OR = 6.99), female (p < 0.05; OR = 2.70) and unemployed (p < 0.05; OR = 4.98). The most predictive psychopathological diagnoses for suicide attempt were anxiety disorders (p < 0.01; OR = 3.95) and impulse control disorders/addictions (p < 0.01; OR = 3.76). The importance of creating specific risk and protection profiles when implementing contextualized health policies on suicide attempt preven… Show more

“…Another limitation was that it was not possible to reproduce the results adequately to extrapolate them to other population groups, but as a strength it was possible to obtain a large sample. Nor was it possible to measure other variables that influence suicidal risk in the military population, such as socioeconomic level, type of family relationship, place of birth and origin [ 74 ], level of self-esteem, social skills, social support, and impulse control [ 75 ]. Finally, a possible limitation for participants not being able to participate fully is attributed to the large study protocol; however, the study encompassed several variables that could have been used in the study.…”

“…Specifically, a suicide attempt can predict future more lethal reattempts or death by suicide, especially between 6 and 12 months after the first attempt ( Borges et al, 2010 ; Chan et al, 2016 ). However, the epigenetic and multidimensional nature of suicidal behavior makes its prevention difficult ( Wasserman et al, 2010 ), due in part to the fact that repeated behaviors are deeply modulated by risk factors such as sex, age ( Sánchez-Teruel et al, 2018 ), and sociocultural factors ( Lopez-Castroman et al, 2015a ).…”
