Although many empirical findings support associations between marital satisfaction and depressive symptoms, gaps remain in our understanding of the magnitude and direction of the associations between marital satisfaction and depressive symptoms as well as the associations in a collectivistic culture. The present study examined autoregressive cross-lagged associations between marital satisfaction and maternal depressive symptoms across a 3-year investigation in a sample of Korean mothers transitioning to parenthood. The sample consisted of 2,078 mothers in the Panel Study of Korean Children. The mothers reported marital satisfaction and maternal depressive symptoms annually for 3 years. The results of an autoregressive cross-lagged model revealed bidirectional associations between marital satisfaction and maternal depressive symptoms. Abstract>The goal of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of a program which can improve the marital satisfaction of newlywed couples. The program was practiced once a week for 4 weeks at K healthy family center and each session lasted for 100 minutes.The participants of the program were 5 newlywed couples who desired to increase their relationship and marital satisfaction.In order to investigate the effectiveness of the program, we used the Wilcoxen signed rank test. The results of the analyses, showed that there were significant differences of increases in the areas of the newlywed couples' marital satisfaction, communication efficiency, conflict coping strategies, and self-esteem. In conclusion, the effectiveness and utilization of the program were confirmed.Also, it was verified that the program can be an important tool for strengthening healthy family functioning through a study on newlywed couples in the field of community-based family work practice.

This study is focused on increasing of population aging and multicultural families in Korea. This study is conducted to figure out the marital satisfaction of marriage immigrant wives having elderly husband and to verify the effect of the social service and human support. This analysis was used in the '2009 National Multicultural Families Survey' data is at least 65 years of age, married immigrant spouses wife 236 case. Descriptive statistics were performed for statistical analysis and hierarchical regression techniques. The effective variables of the marriage immigrant wives include the experience of discrimination, subjective health condition, education for social adjustment, whether an adviser is Korean when they face difficulties, and whether the frequency of contacts made with their families in homeland is more than once to three times a year. Analysis shows that these things works as the effect variable of marital satisfaction.
