Variable structure control with output feedback for nonlinear systems

Abstract: This paper develops a design method for satisfying tJhe reaching condition when applying variable structure control to a nonlinear system with output feedback. The coiltrol gains are designed so that the sliding surface exists and is globally reachable under the assumption that the syst,em is passive. The case of nonpassive systems is also addressed.
