Abstract: These results, in relation to other findings in the literature, provide new insight and may generate new hypotheses on the association between prescription drugs use and impaired driving ability.

“…To circumvent this problem, we used the Bolasso (bootstrap-enhanced least absolute shrinkage operator) method [31]. Only exposures frequently chosen by the Lasso analysis over the bootstrap samples were selected, which improved the stability of the results [32]. In the Bolasso procedure, 2 parameters have to be tuned.…”

“…Some impairments have been reported, for example, the performance of psychomotor tasks (George & Bayliff, 2003) and driving, cognitive impairments, and in some patients may increase the risk of respiratory depression (Manikandan, 2014;Martinussen & Halvorsen, 2013). The abuse of benzodiazepines sometimes may lead to road traffic accidents (Avalos et al, 2014;Johnell, Laflamme, Möller, & Monárrez-Espino, 2014;Orriols et al, 2011) and drug dependence (Chaudhury, Meshram, & Azim, 2013;Piccoli et al, 2014). In addition to their use in medical treatment, because of their hypnotic and sedative effects, some feed enterprises add these drugs to their animal feeds.…”

“…In addition to the use of various analytical methods for sensitivity analyses, studies have concerned the determination of the denominator in case‐population studies or the effect of exposures to different drug classes and risk of car accidents, using links to external registries and original analytical methods …”
