Variable Forgetting Factor-Based Adaptive Kalman Filter With Disturbance Estimation Considering Observation Noise Reduction

Abstract: This paper addresses the influence reduction of quantization and observation noises in a disturbance observer (DOB) technique. DOB is a disturbance estimation method that makes control systems robust. However, in implementing low-resolution sensors, disturbance estimates from DOB are considerably influenced by observation and quantization noises. In this paper, a novel DOB design method for simultaneous estimation of state and unknown disturbances, including the reduction of noise influences, is proposed. The … Show more

“…Current control was implemented in the dq framework, utilizing reverse droop control to regulate voltage magnitude and frequency, such that voltage and frequency control response speed can be improved in the microgrid [41]. [35] utilized disturbance observation in droop control to enable rapid tracking of sudden variations in system currents [42]. The difference between the tracking and actual values was suppressed by a PI controller to mitigate transient overcurrent.…”

“…A wider bandwidth of force sensing is achieved by increasing the gain of force observer to 3000 rad/s, and the performance of force sensing is firmly dependent on the tension force because this method is employed for a twin direct-drive motor system using wire rope. The adaptive Kalman filter was also introduced for simultaneously estimating the plant state and disturbance force considering quantization noise in systems using low-resolution sensors (14) . The method realizes fine estimation of state and disturbance force by numerical simulations.…”
