Vapor‐liquid equilibrium of the binary mixtures CnH2n + 1(OH) (n = 2,3,4) + Propyl Ethanoate and + Ethyl Propanoate

Abstract: The compositions of the vapor‐liquid equilibria have been obtained in a small‐capacity recirculating still for the binary systems comprised of ethanol, propan‐l‐ol and butan‐l‐ol with propyl ethanoate and ethyl propanoate at a constant pressure of 101.32 ± 0.07 kPa. The experimental data were correlated with suitable equations and the azeotropes and their minimum boiling temperatures found were: ethanol + propyl ethanoate (x = y = 0.923; T = 351.5 K), propan‐l‐ol + propyl ethanoate (x = y = 0.610; T = 361.7 K)… Show more

“…The molar volumes v i o in saturation conditions were estimated using a modified version of Rackett's equation, using the values of Z RA given by Spencer and Danner. 37 The second virial coefficients for the pure B ii compounds and for the mixtures B 12 were estimated with the expressions proposed by Tsonopoulos,38 which are used to calculate the parameter δ 12 = 2B 12 − B 11 − B 22 . The values calculated with eq 7 are presented in Table 8, together with the corresponding to the adimensional Gibbs function g E /RT = ∑x i lnγ i and are represented graphically in Figures 4b to 9b for the six systems studied.…”

“…In literature [4,5] the PA1B system is described at 101.32 kPa and 160 kPa, while the PA2B system has been studied [6] at 101.31 kPa. Furthermore, the bibliographic data [6] describes the existence of an azeotropic point in PA2B mixture; however, for the PA1B system the singular point has not been described.…”

“…This work contributes to the subject and proposes a new procedure to study the thermodynamic consistency of VLE and VLLE data. The method takes into account the experiences described by other researchers, and expands upon an idea that initially appeared in a previous study three decades ago, which was not developed at the time. Owing to the length of the proposed method, we give now an outline of it: The first part shows the equations used in the proposed test, arising from Eq.…”
