A viscosity model was proposed for oxygenated fuel components; it was based on Eyring's absolute rate theory and a cubic equation of state Soave-Redlich-Kwong. The viscosity was associated with flow energy which could be divided into the activation energy and the vacancy-formation energy, and then a reference state for simplifying the calculation process was introduced in the present model. This work also reported a viscosity database at temperatures from 243.15 K to 413.15 K and pressures up to 200 MPa for 31 oxygenated fuel components containing alcohols, esters and ethers in order to verify the proposed model. The average absolute relative deviations between calculated and experimental data were lower than 2.37%. Furthermore, the free-volume model, which has a similar consideration of flow energy with this work, was chosen to further investigate the performance of the present model, and in general, the present model showed a better accuracy than the free-volume model. Finally, it was shown that the proposed model could be extended to the mixtures successfully.

Mutual diffusion coefficients of a binary mixture of water + ionic liquid 1-(2-hydroxyethyl)-3methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate have been investigated by means of experimental and predictive approaches. Optical digital interferometry has been employed to determine the mutual diffusion coefficients over the full ionic liquid mass fraction range and at four temperatures between 298.15 and 313.15 K. Moreover, the prediction ability of four different models has been tested. The influence of using different excess Gibbs energy (g E ) models to calculate the relevant thermodynamics properties was also addressed. The mutual diffusion coefficient has a strong dependence on concentration and varies from 2 × 10 −10 to 1.27 × 10 −9 m 2 s −1 . The concentration and temperature dependencies of the present experimental diffusion coefficients were correlated using empirical and predictive equations. The use of binary interaction parameter regressed from diffusion data instead of vapor-liquid equilibria improves considerably the prediction ability of the employed predictive models. Among the studied predictive models, the modified group contribution model provides the best results with an absolute relative deviation of 2.1%. Throughout the paper, thermodynamic and kinetic behavior of the mixture are analyzed for establishing an appropriate criterion for the screening of ionic liquids as working fluids for absorption refrigeration systems.

Blending methyl ester biodiesel and ethyl ester biodiesel can improve the properties of biodiesel. The densities and viscosities of the mixtures of methyl dodecanoate plus ethyl octanoate with various compositions were reported at temperatures from 303.15 to 323.15 K and at pressures up to 15 MPa. Experimental data show that the densities and viscosities of the mixtures of methyl dodecanoate plus ethyl octanoate will increase when temperature decreases or pressure increases. Ethyl octanoate can effectively reduce the viscosity of methyl dodecanoate with a small change in density. Correlations for the data of density and viscosity were proposed with maximum absolute relative deviations less than 0.04 and 5.8%, respectively.
