“…Moreover, vancomycin-related EP was reported twice in the literature. 16,17 All of these three patients were women. They all experienced bacterial peritonitis right before EP, and each of these three patients had a positive Staphylococcus culture in three of the four episodes, which suggests that prodromic infection plays an important role in EP pathogenesis.…”

“…They all experienced bacterial peritonitis right before EP, and each of these three patients had a positive Staphylococcus culture in three of the four episodes, which suggests that prodromic infection plays an important role in EP pathogenesis. EP can present in various forms such as from Rosner et al.’s case, 16 which described a patient who was previously asymptomatic, to Deweese et al.’s case, 17 in which the patient developed severe hypotension that was supported by vasopressors. Fortunately, all of these patients achieved remission after stopping the suspected antibiotic use.…”

“…3,4 Several drugs also induced eosinophilic peritonitis in patients undergoing PD. 5 7 DLST was reported to help diagnose eosinophilic peritonitis in patients undergoing PD. 8 All reported cases of drug-induced eosinophilic peritonitis in patients undergoing PD were completely resolved by stopping the offending drugs with/without administering anti-allergic agents.…”

“…Peritoneal fluid eosinophilia can also be related to infection (fungal, 41,42 parasitic, 43 tubercular 44 ), and appropriate tests must be performed to rule out these diagnoses in patients at risk. An allergic mechanism has been advanced to explain some cases of eosinophilic peritonitis following intraperitoneal injection of vancomycin 45,46 and streptokinase. 47 A turbid appearance of the dialysate can also be the consequence of an accumulation of neoplastic or abnormal cells.…”
