Valuing forest biodiversity through a national survey in France: a dichotomous choice contingent valuation

Abstract: In order to improve French forest accounts, a national survey was carried out during the year 2001 with the aim of collecting data on public preferences and behaviors toward forest. Some 1815 households were contacted via telephone and asked about their recreational activities and willingness-to-pay (WTP) for the preservation of forest biodiversity.
