Values and attitudes towards women in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico

Abstract: Purpose -The purpose of this paper is to report results from an exploratory, empirical research study that describes personal values and attitudes toward women, two themes that strongly impact employment relations and a wide variety of management issues. “…Our results are in line with the other studies demonstrating that Latinos tend to assimilate the gender role attitudes from their host country (Anderson & Johnson, ; Pampel, ). Latina women in this study had higher gender egalitarian attitudes (score = 43.5) when compared to women living in Latin American (i.e., Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico; average score = 29.6) (Olivas‐Luján et al, ). The score may indicate that the women in this sample already shared egalitarian attitudes when they migrated to the United States and their beliefs increase with increased acculturation.…”
