Value of three‐dimensional speckle‐tracking imaging in detecting left ventricular systolic function in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy

Abstract: Objective To explore the value of three‐dimensional speckle‐tracking imaging (3DSTI) in detecting left ventricular systolic function in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). Methods Totally 31 DCM patients were enrolled in this study. Left ventricular end‐systolic volume (LVESV), left ventricular end‐diastolic volume (LVEDV), and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) were measured using the 3DSTI, two‐dimensional echocardiography (2DE), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Left ventricular end‐diast… Show more

“…At present, MRI is considered the gold standard to detect LV systolic function. 9 In the present study, MRI and 3D-STI results were concordant regarding ESV, EDV, and LVEF, and both methods showed no significant change in ESV and EDV after chemotherapy.…”

“…Therefore, the abovementioned variables may be indicators of LV damage in patients treated with the chemotherapy regimen of carboplatin combined with paclitaxel. At present, MRI is considered the gold standard to detect LV systolic function 9 . In the present study, MRI and 3D‐STI results were concordant regarding ESV, EDV, and LVEF, and both methods showed no significant change in ESV and EDV after chemotherapy.…”

“…Therefore, the above parameters can be used as an effective indicator of response to carboplatin combined with paclitaxel chemotherapy for LV damage. At present, MRI is regarded as the gold standard to detect LV systolic function [9] . 3D-STI was positively correlated with ESV, EDV and LVEF measured by MRI (P < 0.05), and there was no significant difference between the two methods in ESV and EDV results (P > 0.05), so 3D-STE is more suitable than MRI in clinical application.…”

“…Impairment of the global longitudinal strain, which provides an assessment of regional contractility, can distinguish patients with inflammation from those without. 28 Strain analyses based on a deformable registration algorithm can be a great tool for identifying DCM patients with varying degrees of mechanical dyssynchrony, which is associated with the prognosis of patients with DCM. Further, circumferential uniformity ratio estimate is the best parameter for differentiating DCM patients with normal QRS duration from patients with left bundle branch block (LBBB).…”
