Value of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio, monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio, platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio and red blood cell distribution width in distinguishing between reactive lymphadenopathy and lymphoma in children

Abstract: The aim of our study was to assess the diagnostic value of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio (MLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and red blood cell distribution width (RDW) in children with lymphadenopathy (LAP). METHODS: Between January, 2009 and December, 2018, 190 children who underwent excisional lymph node biopsy due to enlarged lymph nodes were included. The clinical and laboratory features of pediatric patients with lymph node enlargement, histopathological examin… Show more

“…11 However, few studies have investigated the diagnostic values of markers of systemic inflammation in different cancers (Table 5). In non-gynecologic cancers, NLR has been suggested to predict the presence of Hodgkin lymphoma, glioma, prostate cancer, or cartilaginous tumors (enchondroma and low-grade chondrosarcoma), 10,[37][38][39][40] whereas in gynecologic cancers, we have reported on the usefulness of NLR as a diagnostic marker for the presence of EOC. 8 Kim et al described the efficacy of NLR for the preoperative diagnosis of uterine sarcomas and suggested that NLR (≥2.12) might provide a more useful and costeffective means than serum CA-125 for their preoperative differentiation.…”

“…Recently, numerous studies have focused on the ratio of leukocytes subgroups. The inflammatory biological markers with prognostic values include NLR, PLR, and LMR (12,(20)(21)(22)(23)(24)(25)(26)(27). In our study, we found that patients' neutrophil, Iran J Pediatr.…”

“…Some of these inflammatory biomarkers are SIRI, SII index, NLR, PLR, CRP-albumin ratio, and HALP score (5-9). There is little experience with the use of these inflammatory biological markers in childhood (10)(11)(12). Herein, the aim of our study was to evaluate the importance of the biological inflammatory markers, including SII index, SIRI, and HALP score in children with cancer.…”
