Value of Contrast‐Enhanced Ultrasound in the Diagnosis of Renal Cancer and in Comparison With Contrast‐Enhanced Computed Tomography: A Meta‐analysis

Abstract: Contrast-enhanced US has high sensitivity and moderate specificity in the differential diagnosis of renal cancer. The diagnostic sensitivity of CEUS in renal cancer was higher than that of CECT, suggesting that CEUS could be used as a preferred diagnostic tool for renal cancer.

“…Secondly, compared with those reviews, we additionally performed subgroup analyses for specific characteristics of RMs, for example, cystic or solid patterns (see Table 2). Thirdly, although our study contains results about a balanced distribution of cystic and solid RMs, the studies of Lan et al [35] as well as Zhou et al [34] included only CRMs, and the study of Zhang et al [33] almost exclusively included solid RMs. Fourthly, our overall analysis has been performed for FD by pathology on the one hand and for reaffirmed diagnosis by follow-up imaging on the other hand for all three modalities.…”
