“…For example, Boden, Fergusson, Horwood, & Mulder () who examined the group of victims of the earthquake in New Zealand believe that attention should be paid to the subjective reactions of the assessed persons. The usefulness of the tool is confirmed by its validation in several languages and different populations experiencing stress and potentially suffering from PTSD (Bahari, Malek, Japil, Madlan, & Adela Mutang, ; Bui et al.,; Jehel et al., ; Kianpoor et al., ; Nishi et al., ). In Poland, cultural adaptation and PDI validation were performed in a group of employees of the emergency medical system (Rybojad & Aftyka, ). This survey was aimed at conducting PDI factor analysis and validation in a population not yet studied in Poland with the use of this tool.…”

“…Traumatic events were included in the so-called criteria A category, with a requirement of a cause-and-effect relationship between A1 (experience or being a witness to a tragic event) and A2 (a reaction in the form of peritraumatic distress [PD], characterised by fear, a sense of helplessness and horror). Although criterion A2 [6] has been removed from the DSM-V, PD remains a strong predictor of posttraumatic stress symptoms (PTSS) [9]. One of the tools used for clinical evaluation of PTSD is the Peritraumatic Distress Inventory (PDI) [10].…”
