Validity and Reliability of the Dental Neglect Scale among Romanian Adults

Abstract: The Dental Neglect Scale (DNS) is a well-known measure for assessing behaviours and attitudes related to oral health. However, the factor inconsistency revealed by the literature involves further investigations. The study focuses on the validation of the DNS in the case of a sample of the adult population from Romania. In this regard, data were collected online from 872 adults (616 females and 256 males). DNS reliability was examined from the perspective of internal consistency. Convergent validity was perform… Show more

“…This self-reported questionnaire was designed to measure the degree to which situations in one's life were appraised as stressful over the previous months. The PSS-14 proved established acceptable psychometric properties, with good internal consistency reliability (Cronbach's alpha >0.70) and test-retest reliability (Pearson's, Spearman's, or the intraclass correlation >0.70) [24], with similar data obtained over its Romanian version [25][26][27].…”

“…Perceived stress measured with the Dutch validated 14‐item PSS‐14 1,38,43 . The PSS‐14 was administered in May of Year 1 for cohorts 2014 and 2018, showing good reliability of, respectively, .888 and .866.…”

“…The Cronbach’α coefficient reported by the authors of the instrument was 0.71 [ 38 ]. The scale, recently validated on the Romanian adult population, demonstrated good psychometric properties [ 39 ]. In the present study, Cronbach’s α was 0.71 (95% CI—0.67–0.75), McDonald’s ω = 0.71 (95% CI—0.67–0.74); in terms of CFA, a good fit was obtained: χ 2 /df = 2.46; CFI = 0.98; TLI = 0.97; RMSEA = 0.049 (90% CI—0.022–0.078); SRMR = 0.026.…”
