“…The present research work was designed in compliance with EuroFIR Data Quality Evaluation System (DQES) Oseredczuk & Westenbrink, 2013) encompassing requirements of other systems such as DQES USDA (Bhagwat, Patterson, & Holden, 2009) and FAO (Charrondiere, Burlingame, Berman, & Elmadfa, 2011). The work fulfils almost all criteria, nevertheless sampling plan was not robust enough due to economical constrains and time line of the project and more laboratory data is necessary, namely for the quinoa available in Portuguese market.…”

“…Overall, the findings of the present study indicate a more favourable dietary profile during a week of devout Greeks Orthodox fasting, when a periodic vegetarian-type of diet is followed, as compared to a normal, non-fasting diet. Nevertheless, our findings demonstrate that for a food composition database to be operational, the data it contains have to be of high quality as well as to be properly documented, in order to permit an acceptable degree of reliability, allow for data quality harmonization at an international level (Holden et al, 2002;Burlingame, 2004;Bhagwat et al, 2009), prevent misjudgements in studies examining the effect of dietary patterns on health and allow for dietary pattern comparisons between countries (Deharveng et al, 1999). This will also improve the quality of calculated values produced for composite dishes and recipes (Vasilopoulou et al, 2003).…”

“…Also, certain considerations described by Bhagwat et al (2009) when validating the system were included. The data in each article were evaluated according to five categories: (a) number of samples; (b) sampling plan; (c) sample handling; (d) analytical method; (e) analytical quality control.…”

“…According to the data QI, the confidence code (CC) is assigned, indicating the relative quality of the data and the reliability of the mean. The USDA DQES was validated by Bhagwat et al (2009). The evaluation of data quality helps to set priorities and further identifies the foods to be analyzed as well as orientate analysts to generate high quality data on flavonoids in foods.…”
