“…Overall, the findings of the present study indicate a more favourable dietary profile during a week of devout Greeks Orthodox fasting, when a periodic vegetarian-type of diet is followed, as compared to a normal, non-fasting diet. Nevertheless, our findings demonstrate that for a food composition database to be operational, the data it contains have to be of high quality as well as to be properly documented, in order to permit an acceptable degree of reliability, allow for data quality harmonization at an international level (Holden et al, 2002;Burlingame, 2004;Bhagwat et al, 2009), prevent misjudgements in studies examining the effect of dietary patterns on health and allow for dietary pattern comparisons between countries (Deharveng et al, 1999).
