“…After the score was derived, it was validated in the prostate cancer awareness week 2006-2007 and then later in the clinical setting as well. 7,8 UWIN omits frequency, which was one of the most misunderstood questions, but retains urgency due to its high correlation to bother. 4 We found a good linear relationship between AUA-SI and UWIN.…”

“…This scoring system was derived from statistical analysis of 8731 AUASI scores collected during Prostate Cancer awareness week in 2003/2004 and after correlation analysis and applying area under curve (AUC) to determine the best reduced index and cut off points in severity for mild, moderate and severe categories . The UWIN score thus developed was validated by the same group in subsequent publications . This study was undertaken to compare the UWIN score with the existing gold standard AUASI for symptom severity assessment in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) related LUTS at our institution.…”

“…Most of the studies did not compare Qmax or with urodynamic study with the scoring system. 17 In our study, the pre-treatment and post-treatment score of UWIN and Q-max were also compared and subjected to the same test and it was within the confident limit and hence found to be in good agreement. In this study the participants were also questioned about the easiness about both the questionnaires; almost 95% of the people irrespective of their educational status said UWIN was easier than the IPSS.…”

“…These results were same as mentioned in other studies. 17 This study further included Q-max vs. UWIN scoring system for comparison and the results were found to be in correlation with both pre-treatment and post-treatment level. However, when evaluating a new questionnaire vs. an established instrument, we must see whether the new instrument agrees with the older questionnaire.…”
