Validation of the lithuanian version of the self-evaluation of negative symptoms scale (SNS)

Abstract: Purpose: To validate the Lithuanian version of the Self-Evaluation Negative Symptoms Scale (Lith-SNS). Materials and methods: A double translation from French to Lithuanian and back was performed. We included patients from in-patient and out-patient settings that had a diagnosis of paranoid schizophrenia according to ICD-10 criteria and were screened as free from acute psychotic symptoms using the Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview (MINI). Participants were evaluated using the Brief Psychiatric Rati… Show more

“…The mediation analysis reached significance for SNS [ R 2 = 0.12, F ( 3 , 65 ) = 3.49, p < 0.05] and PANSS as outcome measure ( R 2 = 0.13, F (3.75) = 3.26, p < 0.05). When compared to the zero-order correlations of mindfulness on total and negative symptom severity before the mediator CFQ was added, direct effects in the moderated mediation model decreased in both models (PANSS: b simple = −0.33, p < 0.1 to b model 1 = −0.24, p = 0.15; SNS: b simple = −0.13, p = 0.25 to b model 2 = −0.12, p = 0.41).…”

“…The PANSS-NS includes aspects not typically considered part of negative symptomologies, such as evaluations regarding cognitive functioning, depressive symptoms, inadequate behavior, and disorganized speech. Additionally, PANSS-NS does not address the concept of amotivation, which is considered in SNS ( 1 , 65 , 76 ). Therefore, the influence of different conceptualizations and nuances of each assessment tool should be considered in future research.…”

“…Using SNS, the doctor can fully understand the five dimensions of negative symptoms in patients with schizophrenia; thereby, the doctor can gain more information to initiate a better tailored treatment strategy for patients with schizophrenia (Dollfus et al, 2016;Polat et al, 2022). Although SNS is a commonly used tool globally (García-Álvarez et al, 2022;Hajj et al, 2020;Montvidas et al, 2020;Polat et al, 2022;Rodrguez-Testal et al, 2019), to our knowledge, this Chinese version of SNS lacks the scope for better schizophrenia treatment. Hence, in this study, we aimed to examine the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of SNS in a group of Chinese-speaking patients with schizophrenia.…”
