Validation of the Korean Version of the COVID-19 Phobia Scale (K-C19PS)

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the reliability and validity of a Korean version of the 20-item COVID-19 phobia tool, which was developed through a translation-reverse translation process. These data were collected from 226 persons using a self-reported questionnaire. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were used to test construct validity. Finally, for 19 out of 20 items, the item-level convergence and differential validity were confirmed. In addition, the reliability and validity of the to… Show more

“…These results may also imply that some items have unclear measurement direction. The factor results of item 11 and item 15 were different from those of other studies (9,(22)(23)(24), in addition to the different statistical method (ESEM) used, it is also possible that the sample of this study is non-clinical depressed adolescents. The samples used in previous studies to verify the C19P-S were adults (9,23,24) and patients with anxiety disorders (22).…”

“…[ 6 ] Similarly, the Korean version of C19PS was found to have strong internal consistency reliability and structural validity. [ 11 ] C19PS was discovered to have a high internal consistency reliability index. [ 7 ] In a Korean sample, it was discovered that C19PS showed great reliability and structural validity.…”

“…[ 10 ] Similarly, the Korean version of C19PS was found to have strong internal consistency reliability and structural validity. [ 11 ] C19PS items were found to have initial construct validity and a high internal consistency reliability score, indicating that they may be utilized effectively for assessing the levels of phobia reactions in a variety of age groups. [ 7 ] C19PS was validated on an Arabic population, and it was discovered that the scale's items showed good convergent and discriminant validity, as well as great internal consistency reliability.…”

“…Anti-Chinese sentiment has expanded to all foreigners in Korea (KRCOVID19, 2020). A study on the development of the Korean version of the COVID-19 phobia scale suggests that Korean people tend to develop a different level of fear and anxiety when with non-Koreans (Seong et al, 2021). As a result, aversion and stigma attached to migrants has been intensified.…”
