“…The validated Dutch version of the WIQ was used. 15,16 Determination of the MID As per current recommendations an anchor based approach as opposed to a distribution based approach was used in estimating the MID, using longitudinal prospective data. 17 An anchor is an external criterion for a meaningful change, and can be based on patient reported outcome measures that have demonstrated MID in the target population.…”

“…The WIQ is a short, disease-specific questionnaire validated in patients with intermittent claudication to characterize the degree of walking impairment in patients with PAD and as a measure of efficacy for interventions to reduce PAD symptoms. 4,[6][7][8] It takes 5 minutes to administer. It contains four subscales measuring pain severity and three important factors of walking impairment in symptomatic PAD patients: walking distance, walking speed and the ability to climb stairs.…”

“…5 The WIQ has been validated in the English and Spanish lang uages in the United States 4,6,7 and Dutch in The Netherlands. 8 There is a need for measures specifically designed to be used in non-English-speaking countries since cultural groups vary in disease expression. For example, the use of 'standard size living blocks' in the original WIQ as a measure of distance is not a common phenomenon in Asia as a reference for distance.…”
