Abstract: Child HCAHPS provides an opportunity for systematic and cross-national assessment of pediatric inpatient experiences. Sharing and implementing international best practices are the next logical step. What is Known: • Patient experience surveys are increasingly used to reflect on the quality, safety, and centeredness of patient care. • While adult inpatient experience surveys are routinely used across countries around the world, the measurement of pediatric inpatient experiences is a young field of research that… Show more

“…Our results also replicate those from Belgium in which Bruyneel et al 10 reported poor results around "preventing mistakes and helping you report concerns" (48.2% in top box). Overall, our global results tended to be superior, as revealed in the "overall rating of hospital" (63.9% vs 51.2% in top box) as well as the "willingness to recommend the hospital" (83.9% vs 78.3% in top box).…”

“…Measuring patient experience is essential to improving the quality of care provided in different health settings (World Health Organization, 2000, 2013. To date, different healthcare instruments have been developed to assess patient experience during hospitalization (Bruyneel et al, 2017;Manary, Boulding, Staelin, & Glickman, 2013;Pettersen, Veenstra, Guldvog, & Kolstad, 2004). In this sense, different systematic reviews have been developed to assess the measurement properties of these instruments, which are normally used to assess patient experiences related to pain reduction, care, hospital environment, or communication with professionals, to name a few (Beattie, Lauder, Atherton, & Murphy, 2015;Ellis-Smith et al, 2016).…”

“…HCAHPS were used to collect patient data on the patient's perception of care based on patient satisfactions scores, and the CNPI was used to collect the nurses' data on the nurse's perception of caring behaviors(Desmond, Horn, Keith, Kelby, & Ryan, 2014;Cossette, Cara, Ricard, & Pepin, 2005). Both the Child HCAHPS(Bruyneel, et al, 2017) and CNPI(Cossette, Cara, Ricard, & Pepin, 2005) surveys are validated and reliable instruments used to measure patients' perception of care at a hospital. Third party vendors are used to collect and analyze the data for the HCAHPS survey and the CNPI data was collected and analyzed by the researcher(Desmond, Horn, Keith, Kelby, & Ryan, 2014).…”
