“…Generally, CALUX measurements are higher for the PCDD/F fraction [3, 5] and lower for the dl-PCB fraction [27] when compared to GC-HRMS. Chou et al [3] calculated CALUX/GC-HRMS ratios for the PCDD/Fs between 1.9 and 2.4 in cow ‘s milk samples, while Van Overmeire et al [5] found median CALUX/GC-HRMS ratios of 1.58 and 0.26 for the PCDD/Fs and dl-PCBs, respectively.…”

“…The 2,3,7,8-TCDD calibration curve for the CALUX bioassay was established from the relationship between the concentrations of the 2,3,7,8-TCDD standard solutions (250, 125, 62.5, 31.3, 15.6, 7.81, 3.91, 1.95, 0.977, 0.488, and 0.244 pg-TCDD/mL medium), as shown in our previous study [19]. For the tests to be significant, two criteria must be met.…”

“…The H1L7.5c1 cell line was specially designed to analyze low concentrations of PCDD/Fs and PCBs in small sample volumes. With the less sensitive H1L6.1 cell line, which was commonly used in previous biomonitoring studies [7, 8, 9] and food/feed analysis [10, 11], only a single-point analysis of the whole extract was often used and it was not possible to measure the dioxin-like PCB fraction, since most samples were below the quantification limit (LOQ) [9]. In this study, for the first time, dioxin-like PCBs could be measured in serum samples with the improved H1L7.5c1 cell line with a high percentage of the samples above the LOQ.…”
