“…To improve the model, these five items were deleted. Similarly, recent research on the ACE‐IQ reported eliminating two items regarding neglect because their factor loadings were less than .30 (Téllez et al, 2022). Finally, a good model fit was obtained [ χ 2 (4) = 5.91, p > .05, CFI = 1.00, TLI = .99, RMSEA = .04, SRMR = .02].…”

“…Although the scale was initially developed to be used on adults (aged 18 years or older), it has been used on adolescents in different countries (Kovács‐Tóth et al, 2021; Schauss et al, 2021; Thulin et al, 2021). The ACE‐IQ has been translated and used across different cultures with good evidence of reliability and validity (Chen, Yu, et al, 2022; Téllez et al, 2022). In this study, the Arabic version of the ACE‐IQ (Almuneef et al, 2014) was used.…”

“…This instrument is based on the ad hoc Child Adversity Scale ( Nowakowski-Sims and Rowe, 2017 ) used in a CPV sample and on the Adverse Childhood Experiences International Questionnaire ( ACE-IQ ; World Health Organization, 2018 ) which evaluates the presence or absence of a total of 12 adverse experiences related to both parental neglect (parental abandonment) and adverse events experienced by first-person and by family members through 12 dichotomous items (0 = no , 1 = yes, Ordinal α = 0.94). For example, “I have suffered the abandonment of my mother; “Someone in my family has been in prison for committing a crime.” The Nowakowski-Sims and Rowe (2017) scale shows good internal consistency (Kuder–Richardson 20 binary statistical reliability procedure, KR20 = 0.75), as does the ACE-IQ in Spanish (e.g., α = 0.69–0.86; Téllez et al, 2022 ).…”
